About Me
Roman Sanchez (he/him) is a theatre producer, director, educator and proud graduate of the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale, where he completed an artistic fellowship with Bill Rauch at the Perelman Performing Arts Center (PAC NYC) and authored a case study on Perseverance Theatre in Alaska.
Roman has held roles at institutions including Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Dell’Arte International, California Arts Council, Yale Cabaret, and the California State Summer School for the Arts. As Founding Artistic Director of Lime Arts Productions, he launched the Twenty by Twenty Fringe Festival, which spotlighted emerging theatre artists and reached national visibility in the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
He is a Princess Grace Honoraria recipient, Kennedy Center National Arts Impact Award recipient, an Herb Alpert Awardee, recipient of Yale's Dexter Wood Luke Prize, and member of ArtEquity's BIPOC Leadership Circle and Theatre Producers of Color Cohort.
He is the author of Preparing for College Theatre: A Guide for Performers, Technicians, and Designers and one of HowlRound's most viral articles of 2025, Where Is US Theatre Thriving? Small, Grassroots Organizations.

When not in a theater, Roman can be found watching Survivor, talking way too seriously about movies, or cheering on the Las Vegas Raiders, who’ve taught him more about resilience than any directing class ever could.
